There is news this month that will matter to anyone planning roofing work: the Construction Leadership Council has confirmed that supplies of concrete roof tiles are still restricted. If you are a builder booking jobs for the summer, or a homeowner hoping to get a roof sorted before autumn, that is worth knowing before you start.
When materials get tight, two things tend to happen. Prices creep up, and lead times get longer. The frustrating part is finding out halfway through a job that the tiles you need are three weeks away. That is exactly the kind of hold-up that turns a straightforward roof into a stressful one, especially if the weather turns.
This is where a well-stocked local merchant really earns its keep. Buying your roofing supplies in Ilford from a yard that carries good stock means you can see what is available, check it suits the job, and take it away the same day rather than waiting on a national supply chain. For trade customers, it also means someone who can flag an alternative tile or membrane if your first choice is short.
It is worth planning ahead too. If you know you have roofing work coming up over the next couple of months, having a quick chat about materials now – rather than the day you need them – can save you both money and delays while supplies stay squeezed.
Whether you are a roofer buying in bulk or a homeowner tackling a smaller repair, the team at RTB Roofing Supplies is happy to talk through what is in stock and help you get the right materials for the job. Pop in or take a look at rtbrs.co.uk/.
